Camping and Cabins
There are no campgrounds known to us particularly close to Oregon Ridge Park. Year-round campgrounds on the way towards Washington, DC and the Saturday and Sunday venues include:
Patapsco Valley State Park (separate campgrounds in different sections of the park near Baltimore, Catonsville, Ellicott City and Halethorpe, MD, just south of Baltimore)
Washington DC/Capitol KOA, Millersville, MD, about halfway between Baltimore and Washington, DC
Greenbelt National Park, Greenbelt, MD, just inside the north side of the Capital Beltway
The closest campground to Hemlock Overlook and Fountainhead Regional Parks that will be open in November is at Bull Run Regional Park, 30-40 minutes drive away. The park has 49 tent sites, 57 electric only sites, 32 full-service sites and 6 rustic cabins (2 night stay required for cabins).
Nearby (recommended) Stores and Restaurants
A map of restaurants near Oregon Ridge ("oregon_restaurants") can be found in our Resources section; note that it includes the location of The Greene Turtle and The Oregon Grille, which are both open late on Fridays (until 2am for the Turtle). Additionally, competitor Robert Buraczynski recommends The Corner Stable restaurant, located 3.5 miles from Oregon Ridge Park at 9942 York Rd, Cockeysville (open until 11pm on Fridays) for their "excellent barbequed ribs".
Near the I-95 Lorton exit likely to be convenient for Hemlock and Fountainhead, there are quite a few restaurants, some of which are shown in the PDF ("lorton_restaurants") also now available in our Resources section. Vinny's Italian Grill & Pizzaria is recommended by long-time QOC member (and historian) Sid Sachs for its "tasty food, large portions and reasonable prices".
The tourist attractions of Washington DC, including the Smithsonian museums, are well known. Lesser known attractions near event venues that might be worth your time include:
